Got out today for a few hours with the new coil on my 350, and my first impression was that it was just the best thing since sliced bread. After really using it for a while, I'm not quite as impressed with it. I still agree that it is deeper than the stock coil, but the target ID isn't as accurate as the stock coil. I had beavertails ring up as pennies quite a bit. Quarters seemed to be accurate, and nickels were dead on. (when it wasn't a pull tab, that is.) Can slaw rang up under the dime/quarter section. I swapped back to my original coil, and the same piece of can slaw rang up just under the penny, which is what I am used to. I did dig a zinc penny at about 11", but it rang up as a dime/quarter. Since the 10x14 is marketed as being for the ace 150 and 250, I'm wondering if the slightly higher frequency of the 350 is the culprit here? Any suggestions? I even put in fresh batteries just to be on the safe side... trying to eliminate any other variables. Also, I have the coil mounted backwards because it balances better that way. Is there any way possible that its orientation could have an effect on the TID? It still pinpoints like a bloodhound!
Any suggestions?
Thanks guys.
