A Couple Of Cold Ones

I was able to get out for a short hunt after work today. I went back to a spot I have pulled a few pieces of silver from this year. It's and old school grounds that was around in the 40's so nothing has been real old but it has been fun to dig some silver in January. The place is super trashy and was a slow and tough start because a lot of the ground was frozen as it only got up into the 30's today. I got a good high tone between all the trash and was able to chisel out a plug of dirt and broke it apart to reveal a Merc peeking out of the frozen clump. I loved the imprint it left in the soil and it came out super clean. I had just a little time left and was able to dig out another Merc to make my 100th silver coin with my Etrac since I got it 15 months ago so that was neat. It's been nice to be able to go out this month as it's been a very cold winter for us. HH David

A big congrats on Silver # 100 - love them Merc's - good to see you could get out Dave ! :beers:

Nice hunt!!! I too like the pic of the icy impression left by the Merc. Neat pic.

Congrats!! and glad to see you are getting out. I don't think you could chisel the ground here. Most brutal winter I have seen in Indiana yet since moving here in 2002. Keep posting those finds. It gives hope that spring is just around the corner.

Very nice pictures Dave, congratulations on your E-Trac silver centennial!

Congrats on the frozen silver! It is a great feeling extracting silver from frozen ground even though your hand says different.
I think someone needs to invent a heated digger :)
100 silver is a great milestone.

NIce dime......congratulations on the silver find. It's frozen everywhere I think.

100 Silver Coins... has a nice ring to it, :)

It's always good to find it when the weather isn't on your side, Congrats

Great finds, this winter has been just HORRID in Ohio, not sure if ground will ever thaw! Maybe in march if were lucky

Thanks guys. This winter has been a roller coaster ride of up and down temps. It drops down into negative temps and less than a week later it's back into the 50's-60's. It has done that for two weeks in a row. Monday it was -2 and today it was 62. Hope it warms up for everyone soon!

Nice silver Dave! No hunting here in central ILL. Frozen hard and no weather breaks in temp. Couple more sub zero nights comin up too.
I hunted the last 3 winters with the etrac off and on but this is a really bitter winter that I havnt seen for many years. Hope you find some more silver ! I enjoy your posts. HH! Kabarcoinin
