took the day off work to go and hit the field again before the start planting. Picked up the 1877 dime about 15 minutes after getting there. Then snagged an injun. Took about a hlaf hour and I got a really faint sound through the head set. The numbers were all over the place, but would occassionally touch the 43-45 range. The depth showed 11 inches. everything that I have dug in this field has been 6 inches or less. I decided to dig and wouldn't you know it. 1876 Seated. Deepest dime I have found yet. Then I managed a few more indians and a shield nickel and a couple V nickels. Love the Etrac. 4th time out with it and I learn more everyday. The indians and nickels were all over the place as far as the CO/Fe numbers were concerned and the sounds were iffy also. i would assume it is because they are in such bad condition, but silver sure screames out. Really looking forward to hitting it again in the fall.

Really nice hunting day!

Great finds! Thanks for the pictures.

Thanks for all the kind remarks. It used to be the site of an old fair. I stumbled upon it in a history book., but not a whole lot of information on it. It took me a couple years to actually find out a little more and narrow down where it might have been. Took a couple trips, but have been picking up a few keepers. Still really have not worked the area yet, as it is corn stubble and they are getting ready to plant, but hopefully this fall.
