Well after a few months of swinging the stock coil on my mxt fighting all these foil and pulltab filled parks around here I took the plunge this morn and went to my whites dealer and got me a new 4x6 shooter DD coil.
I sure do hope this will make my life a little easier trying to pick out the good signals I've never used a coil this small before it sure looks tiny compared to the other one. lol
Hey I didn't stop there either he had the mxt edge by Jeff Foster in stock so I went ahead and bought one of them so when it's to hot to get out and detect I can sit in the a/c and do some reading.
Sure would have loved to bought a few more things but my money kinda ran out for now so maybe later.
Guess I better hush now before anyone gets an idea of thinking I'm addicted to this hobby  :detecting:

Hey Ricky, that sounds like me 2 years ago. I use a 6" Excellerator coil but just the same you,ll love being able to maneuver through the trash and pick your targets. Got the book too. Good Hunting!!

Good for you. I bought a slightly used MXT several years ago. It came with the stock 9.5, the 5.3 and the 4X6 shooter, all mounted on extra rods. My first outing was to an extremely trashy park. After a few minutes trying to hunt with the 9.5 I was totally disappointed and frustrated as there were so many targets that it sounded like machine gun fire in my headphones. I went back to my vehicle with the idea of trying the 5.3 and discovered I had only brought the 4X6. The difference was unbelievable. I was able to slip thru the trash quite handily and pulled out a bunch of goodies.

It will take a bit of getting used to. Be patient and swing slowly trying to cover small areas well rather than a large area, quickly. You'll also be able (with the sensitivity turned down) to get very close to playground equipment posts etc. The 5.3 will get more depth and cover a bit more, but in my experience when in heavy trash the 4X6 is king. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Way to go!!! Shh, don't look now, but I think you're hooked. Hey, what other hobby pays for it's own equipment? HH, Nancy

Hi Rick, Maybe we could start a club detectors anonymous, so our wife don't lock us out when we go detecting lol. I have detected a lot on weekends
over the years but am not a seasoned pro with the mxt, since retiring, and being able to go quite a bit, I a have learned a lot off of this forum, and the
Mxt edge by Jeff foster, great book, I wanted a good al around detector as I live in the mountains where there is gold, and coins, and not to far from a
city for coin hunting, I finally made a detect garden, with pull tabs, bottle caps and coins. I should have done that first along with reading the edge, would
have saved time, as far a digging two buckets full of trash, lot of mineralization in the ground I detect so that added to the learning curve, I now have
a 10x12 sef dd coil I like and a 3x5 dd I use allot, with this forum and all other tools I have I can't go wrong, anyway good luck,......when you want to start
detect anonymous let me know lol.
