With all the rain lately, all the area lakes and rivers are above-normal. I went down to the "Pedestrain Bridge", an old converted Railroad trestle bridge, over the Arkansas River here in Tulsa. When I got there, I noticed some Needle-Nosed Gar were breaching in the fast water. Luckily, I keep my D40 in Burst mode, so I zoomed in, focused on where the fish were breaching, and waited. When I'd see one (or more) breach, I fire off a few to capture them. I captured over 90 images, but these are the only two that turned out.
This first image has two fish in it.

This one looks like the fish is looking around, wondering what's going on?

Looking at that second pic, you can tell these are predators, since they have binocular vison. Now, I don't have anything in here for scale, but these fish were all measuring about 4' long.
While I was there, I was talking to a family, and earlier that day, some guy was right at the water's edge, and wearing a special, cut-resistant glove, grabbed one of these things by the bill/snout/mouth and lifted it straight out of the water. One of the kids had captured video of it on his cell phone.
I also took some pictures of the rushing water, but just realized I didn't rip them off the SD card before I formatted it. I guess I'll have to go back today and get some more, weather permitting.
