A couple finds from old house site

My buddy and I did a short hunt today at a couple of old house sites in the woods and found a couple items.
I got the heel plate and he found the bullet.
Not sure of the era of these two items, but thinking the bullet looks like post Civil War.
Not sure on the heel plate.
At least we did not get skunked and it was a nice day for relic hunting.
Thanks for looking!

Fwcrawford, that heel plate is a cool find. It makes me think that there should be more goodies there - I hope that you get them! Best of luck and...

Happy Hunting!

Is the heel plate steel ? We had taps put on our shoes in the 50's-60"s it was a cool thing back then.......

This plate has is made of either brass or bronze.
I found one a few years ago and that was the same material
as this one, but the other one had 3 holes and a heart shape cutout in the center.
I read that taps were very popular back in the 50’s.

We actually went back here a couple days later for about 3 hours.
I finally got my first coin out of this site... a 1946 wheat penny.
I believe the penny was lost sometime after the house was no longer occupied.
The reason I think this to be the case is that this house is not shown on
a 1930 topo map of the area, although some others nearby that I found are shown.
Possibly a hunter lost the penny years later.
I found some shotgun shells that date from about 1911 to 1934.

FWCrawford, Congrats to you on some cool finds. The heel plate is really nice. As said, hit this area again. There's liable to be more relics here. Do you have a smaller coil to use around the old homework or are you already using one? Continued Success to you.
