Only had a couple hours to hunt before Easter Festivities so back to the old reliable city park I went. First good find was the 1898 indian head cent that was hiding near a chunk of iron. A while later I get a mixed signal, wasn't able to pinpoint because 2 targets were in close proximity. Dug the first target, a lousy rotting zinc penny. Was then able to pinpoint on the second deeper target and from about 6 inches down I pulled out the 1867 shield nickel. A pleasant surprise. I don't dig a lot of shield nickels and this was maybe the 10th one I've dug in 27 years. A quick shout out to Sgt. Claddy on digging his first silver coin today, a 1920-S mercury dime. Congratulations !
