A couple AT Pro water hunting questions.

I know that during this time of year there few people getting into the water. If someone would care to answer a couple questions I would sure appreciate it. First question is, does the new coil sink or does it float? Also, how are the ergonomics of the detector and coil in the water. Since it uses a semi large coil does it produce much drag or stress from twisting to the wrist and arm? I have never used an S handled detector in the water before and that is why I'm asking.

Thanks

Kurt

Not sure on those questions. I have waterproofed a ace 250 and it worked fine coil was sank and worked great with the s handle. The at pro coil is bigger but you can change to a smaller coil. Think it will be great.

I haven't used any other detector so not an expert, but found few problems with the AT Pro in water. The coil sinks and it is easy to hug the bottom with, it is also thin enough not to cause noticable resistance. I think the shaft feels like it causes more resistance then the coil itself. Because the coil is not a solid shape (full of holes) there is little hydrodynamics involved.

But in the wash of the waves coming up onto the beach it is best to time your swing with the wave direction. There is resistance when swinging the coil out on an incoming wave etc, much easier just to wait for the water stop and go back out. I would imagine this is the same for any detector.
