Out with the youngest son, again both using Ace 150's.
Unusual weather. At times we had light snow falling and the wind chill was making it hard for both of us (easy to notice when kids slow right down and just look like they are sleep walking), so early on he went back to the car to warm up. An hour later his was back into it though, a hot lunch (from the local shop near the beach) and drink can work wonders for anyone. At other times we had sunshine and no wind. Last week the temperatures were up around 18C so very comfortable and warm.
So, he adds another two silver rings to his collection, not sure if the horseshoe shaped piece has real diamonds (nice though), about the equivalent of US$1.30 in modern coins. His brother is getting a little jealous (he's been busy with other things recently though) so it looks like a bit of a competition coming up between them this year. Should be fun.
Will post my finds also......
Six rings for me. Have my doubts about the gold colored one, no markings on it. The tiny little piece with a stone sure was a surprise, the 150 picked it up well though. Silver chain, lucky to find both sections.

About the equivalent of US$9 in modern coins. The large 'coin' with the square hole is something I'll have to research more, so far, using the Internet I've found it originates from a shrine in Kyoto, looks old but your guess is as good as mine. The silver colored amusement machine token (neo tiger) in the second row has the following written around the edge and something that fits in well with this forum: "This place is fun. We're the happy and lucky people."
That's it for this weekend, hope you enjoyed the posts and get out there too......

Thanks Bob.
Well, because you asked, just counted up the rings for this year. Here is the total:
Younger son - 17
Elder son - 6
Me - 43 rings
------------------
Total: 66
------------------
mmmm.......maybe we should try for 666 rings this year?!! haha
Your family sure is cleaning up on those rings. That beach must be very busy in the hot weather. It's such a great family sport! great post Ian!!!
Yes, it sure is a very busy beach during summer - at least from July through to early September. Japanese tend to follow the clock/dates though, rather than the real water/air temps. Am always surprised they close many of the outdoor swimming pools at the end of August when the temperatures are still way up high!
I'm guessing thousands of rings etc. still in the sand of that beach and more no doubt to be added soon.... a continuing story.......
