I help lead worship for our youth, and sometimes I just dont feel like doing it. I have a bad attitude. And by the time we have gone over a song or two, I feel better! Sounds like we share that in common too! God bless you!

Been leading worship and singing in the choir for close to 20 years. There have definitely been times when I just plain didn't feel like worshiping. J, you hit it right on the head when you said that after going over a worship song, you felt better. It comes down to the words. How can you sing them and NOT be affected?

Whenever I feel "out of it", it's always because of me, not God :) The songs remind me of that and after singing them, I feel better...

I have noticed more lately than every before how much 'listening' affects my spirit. If I listen to TV there is so much evil being shoved at me my spirit is in turmoil and I shut off the TV knowing it is not edifying to my spirit.

When at the computer, driving down the road and even when going to bed at night, I listen to Christian music. My spirit is at peace and I feel much happier.

What goes into my ears goes into my heart and out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. There are many voices, both good and evil, so I have to be careful of what voice I listen to. Jesus said many times to "take no thought..." as I listen (taking a seed) and I take thought (concentrating) of what is going into my head I have to protect my heart (spirit).

As a cop I used to be surrounded by negative and evil things and it wore on me. My language was foul, my thoughts were negative and I drank alcohol to numb my feelings and listened to country music so I could cry in my beer so to speak. There was no hope for tomorrow being a better day.

As a Christian, well, you all know the difference is like the difference between night and day. Old things passed away and have a new way, a new path to follow that gives me hope and a better attitude.

So given a choice (and God has given us the ability to make choices) of what to listen to and how it affects me helps me keep the evil seeds out and the edifying seeds coming in.

And there is something special to raise one's own voice in praise and worship to our Creator, our Father and our All in All. Glory and praise to God and to our Lord Jesus.

We have a lifetime of experience putting up walls against words...but music lifts them up, floats them over the walls and carries their message directly into our hearts.

The enemy is rapidly entering into the Christian music scene, throught christian metal music and other types that do not edify our Lord and Savior. For most of us, we no what is God and what is not, but for the one's who are unkowing, the music can be distructive and keep them from the Lord purpose. If you are not sure of what I am talking about, then go to a local Christian book store and see for yourself. Pray for the bands that are walking uprightly before the Lord and pray for Christian music. Thank you and God Bless.
