a break in the drought...

got some much needed rain around here this past weekend. Saw a basement being dug on an old lot, down the street. Got permission and hunted in between the piles of dirt. Hunting in Combined with a modified silver and IH cent program, I snagged an IH cent, a couple scuffed up wheats and a pretty nice Walking Liberty.

Sorry for the small pics, but that is all my cell phone can do. The larger pic was taken after I got home and rinsed off the Walker. HH Randy

Note the rusted iron and nail along side the IH

Nice finds, those Walker's are awesome coins. congrats on the finds and the rain, we still need rain here in Texas.

Was this dug basement in a city area or country setting? What made you think to hunt it?

By the way, GREAT FINDS!!!

Very nice finds!! An IH and WLH on one hunt...priceless! LOL!

Great finds. Yeah watching for construction is a good idea. Around in my neck of the woods more modern houses actually stand where/close to the older houses once stood.

She is a beauty..........:clapping:

There was an old house sitting on this lot here in town, until it got torn down about 3 or 4 years ago. It was one of those places that, when you drive by and see the old trees and out buildings, you'd always think you needed to detect it. But I just never got around to it. When I drove by it last Saturday, I saw stakes driven as if something was going to change. By that afternoon, the dozer was already moving dirt. I found out who owned it, drove to his house and asked permission to detect it. He said I could, but should wait until the construction crew was done for the day. When I got there that evening, I found a basement dug and the dirt piled everywhere. Between the hole, the dirt piles and the equipment, there was only a few feet of space along the perimeter to detect. I found some clad along the edge of the sidewalk, the pennies were buried in some "cat tracks", and the silver was between the main sidewalk and where the old house use to set. Like I said, it was just one of those places that looked like something you should do. And I finally did. HH Randy
