A bit of nostalgia for you Civil War collectors

As I was digging around in the attic I found my collection of Civil War News cards from 1961. These were illustrated by Norm Saunders who also did the Mars Attacks series of trading cards along with many others as well as Stag/Mens adventure magazine covers that we all had hidden away as teens. I collected his cards as a kid and admired his work as an adult which influenced me into my career as a graphic artist. Unfortunately I wound up working in a graphics dept of a large corporation and never got to illustrate much. Vern, you can probably appreciate his work being an illustrator yourself. His son David has a website dedicated to him, check it out and I'll bet seeing something brings back some memories.

Because it was one of TOPPS "other" card sets, they tend to be on the rare side. I have seen some of those go for a fair price on the "e-bay"

Very cool, thanks for sharing. Do you have the Grant card???
