....with the battery life of my new rechargeable pack. This will be my 3rd time on the charger since I received it, and I know for certain that I have not put 16 hours total on the Explorer. The manual says that after a couple of charges the pack should be at it's full potential.

How much time is everyone else getting on theirs before you have to charge it?

I start out with a fresh charge on my battery and when I get ready to hunt again, I put it back on the charger the night before I go hunting....

So what you are saying is, if you only detect for an hour on your fully-charged battery, you still put it back on the charger for the next hunt?

With the price of gas, when I go hunting, its for more that a hour, plus the fact that I drive 60 to 100 miles round trip.
If you only hunt for a hour at a time, then no.....
When I put mine on the charger, its down to half....

Just make sure your AA pack has good battery's in it....

Also, I keep a rubber band around the battery door on my AA pack, so I don't loose the door, while I carry it,
and take the rubber band off before installing the pack in my SE.

Dave, the more you use the battery and recharge it the longer it will last. It took mine at least 6 good charge cycles to see the difference. I usually go out for about 5 hours give or take and I put it back on the charger over night. It hasn't gone below half on the battery indicator since I got those cycles on it. I do take my back up pack with me but haven't had to use it yet. If it doesn't seem to hold a longer charge i'm sure Minelab will replace it under warrenty. Good luck, Joe.

Yeah, I will be paying more attention to how much time I get out of a charge. I am possibly just overreacting. That would be easier to fix than having to send it back.

ive never realy counted exact hours between charges but always have my aa back up pack on hand and i,ve yet to need to go to back up some times hunt 5 to six hours get home put charger back on over nite ready to hunt again my old xlt i bought used only had the aa pack i bought lots of batteries but not my se its great to have that recharable pack and i,m always ready to hunt

Fortunately mine crapped out while I was detecting in my backyard. But yes I always have my survival kit along with me whenever I venture far from home. I guess since I have'nt had to use the alkaline pack yet I must be doing OK.

Mc..... these charger arent the best in the world. These things arent memory sensitive so you can run them down and they charge right back to full. Also the charger will NOT over charge so dont worry about putting it on and leaving it on the charger. You can always take your AA one in and Batteries Plus will make you a rechargeable that lasts and lasts. these are only 1600 mAh. The higher the mAh the longer they last. Take a look at some of the new rechargeable on the market now.....2800 mAh and higher. The 1600 drops off quickly but even when they show really low you wont notice a difference in your detecting. Its really not a big deal if you just pop it back on the charger every time. I hunt almost wide open plus use the inline probe...... that takes a lot of battery power producing sounds and mine lasts for my hunts which are often 6 hours.
