A beautiful day to have a short hunt and a small pocket spill made it even nicer.

Got out today with my hunting buddy and hit a few homes we had never hunted. The last time out (couple days ago) I got skunked on silver but, did manage a nice old broach a buff some teen wheat's and an old dog tag.

Here are some other pics. from a very recent hunt. A little more silver and a really nice old sterling ring.

On to today-------------------:detecting:
Today, the first place we got permission looked great until we got in the yard and the grass was rather tall and wet as we started hunting about 9 AM.
My buddy right of the bat got a 26 wheat so, we knew things where there even if it had been hunted prior. I dug a few wheat's from the 20s and then got a high right tone but, it was down half on the SF screen.
As I circled it the cursor would climb upward to the top but then go back down. Being the depth meter read it was 3/4 on the scale I decided to dig and I am glad I did.
The first coin out of the hole was a silver rosie but, after putting the X1 in there was more down there. A little more dirt scooping and I had pulled a silver wash. a merc. and a nickel. The nickel explained the falling cursor and bounce.
I have dug two pocket spills lately so, I consider myself very fortunate. I ended up getting the 44 Merc. a little later as we where getting ready to leave.
At the next house which happened to be for sale the owner agreed to let us hunt if we split up the finds. I said gladly and we began the hunt.
This yard was loaded with wheat pennies and although we did not dig any silver here today we will go back and try again. The only cool thing I dug here was the Plainfield Riding and Driving Club Token/Badge.
Turns out its from 1909 and N.J.
So, I added four more silver to this years totals today and made a few more friends. I ended up with a 44s Wash.,27 and 44 Merc., 53 Rosie and I kept a 18 and 26 wheat for myself. The owner got a handful of old wheat's the nickel and other artifacts from the two of us
Here is the spill as dug.
