I was having the same "problem", and bought an Energizer charger, and a couple sets of batteries. My Ace will go a few hunts before needing recharged, and it seems to me the rechargeables (2300mAh) last a little longer than the throw-aways. It might cost you $40-50 for the charger & a couple sets of batteries, but it won't take long to pay for itself.

You can get the charger & batteries at the local sprawlmart, or home inprovement center (also Amazon.com).

Was one of the best investments I'd made. I also have 9v rechargeables for the PP.

My HP camera goes through them pretty quick too, but I picked up a small battery tester and use it to test the batteries when I change them in the detector. Any that are good to fair I'll use in my camera and GPS. They usually have enough power to last for several pics or a few hours in the GPS. Use em up till they're totally dead.

in the camera run dry real quick at least it seems
to me they do

Thanks

Like I said, mine seems to eat them right up. But I try and get every last ounce of life out of them. Paid about 6 bucks for the battery tester - worth it in the long run to me.

Hi Ron,

I have a camera that may eat batteries faster than yours. Its unreal. The best thing I ever did was buy some of the new lithium batteries that claim to last some 7 times longer than alkaline and DO THEY EVER !

I have bought one set and its been approx 2 yrs now and use the cam quite often. With the alkalines I would get perhaps 5 pic and the battery would go dead.

ALso, be sure the flash is not set to auto unless of course you need it. The flash, even though not fired with each pic does need to charge just in cae it is called upon to do so.

The lithium cells have a slightly higher voltage which hasnt hurt the camera at all.

I would think if someone were to use the lithiums in an ACE, they may never have to replace the battery in its entire warranty period!

I am not saying USE THESE batteries, just saying, this is what I do.

Yes I had a camera that ate AA batteries then went to a canon with little proprietary battery smaller than a book of matches and can get about 900 snaps per charge, now the biggest problem is remembering the last time it got charged. The new camera electronics take far less power than the older digital cameras, for the price of rechargeable batteries for a older camera you might be able to get get into a newer camera with way more features and a battery that lasts.

I'd go for some rechargeable batteries. Buying throw away cells will eat your
lunch with something that's a power pig. You could use NiMH, or the lithium cells.
You would also need a charger. But it will save you a load of $$$ over time.
I had the same problem with my trail camera that I use for critters in the woods,
and crooks here at the house. It normally takes internal C cells, and they were
eating my lunch. I also tried going to external D cell packs to get nearly twice as
much bang for the buck, but they were still eating my lunch. :ranting:

Now I'm using a 12 AH SLA battery and all is well in the world.. Chortle..
I just recharge that bad boy every once in a while, vs going to the store to
spend $$$.
My Sony W290's use lithium-ion batteries, which are rechargeable. I can get
by with just one of those per camera in most cases. I have chargers both here
at home, and also one in the car. So I just top it off when the indicator starts to drop.
I use those for both still pictures and also video. The video probably saps the most
juice. Those batteries are about like the ones in most cell phones.

But... I still use alkie's in my Ace 250.. It's not a power pig, and I like
running it off the full 6 volts, vs 4.8 volts that you get off NiMH cells.
I get those cheap at the dollar store.. :/ Usually ray-o-vac golds..
My 250 seems to like those, and they last a good while. :detecting:
