A 4 hour game of tag with the Fisher F70, ID Edge, and Minelab X-Terra 50.:detecting:

A heat wave 40degF offered the opportunity to engage in a little game of tag on a white sand freshwater beach. All three detectors had their stock concentric ~9 inch coils.

The settings:

Fisher Edge

Sensitivity=8
Disc=0
No Notches set

X-Terra 50

Sensitivity=18
Disc=0
Default Pattern 1

Fisher F70

Sensitivity=80
Disc=0
No Notches set
Threshold=0

The F70 Gb'd at 83and showed no mineralization on the Dirt bars. On occasion over big iron the bottom Dirt bar would light.

This white sand beach has areas of very thick iron, some of which I have gridded several times over the years with various detectors. Since the F70 was the new kid on the block it took the lead in searching the iron thickets. For the first two hours a target would be located with the F70. Then the F70 was turned off and the Edge turned on to check the target. The Edge was then turned off, the F70 restarted, and the hunt continued. For the second two hours the F70 took the lead as before, except the X-Terra 50 was used to cross check targets.

Over a 4 hour period hunting in thick iron no new relevant targets were found in the areas that had been previously gridded. Every target whether solid or iffy that the F70 located was also located by the other detectors. Solid targets sounded solid, and iffy targets sounded iffy in equal measure on all three detectors.

That's Interesting........................and your very dedicated, which in turn, is very helpfull to others like me. Thanks

Good report Bill, now to complete the battery of tests, we need the report on how they do compared to each other outfitted with small coils:biggrin:.
Your method is more scientific than hunting an area and then going back another time with a different detector.
In the past, I have conducted tests using 2 detectors over small areas comparing results.
Marking off targets and trying to remember exactly how each detector reacted to signals, which angles gave which signals, if someone hasn't tried it can't appreciate the time it takes.
When I was doing it, I decided to only mark 3 to 5 targets else my short-term memory would kick in and I would start wondering, now how did this signal sound on the other detector:stars::lol::biggrin:?
