A 2 hour hunt back at old faithful Wood's Field

Went out today while the temperature was down and the wind was nice and cool for about 2 hours...Found $3.43 in clad...missed Silver by one year yet again (1965 Quarter)...I think this field must have been worked over around 1965-1970, seems to be a lot of coins in that range in this field, but very little silver...I am finding a lot of those tokens, as they just finished a yearly carnival in the field 2 weekends ago...I kept the butterfly which appears to be stainless with enamel paint, and the rivet top just to show someone how small of an item the BH Land Star can find with the 4" coil...The rivet is a little over 1/4" in diameter. Also found my usual pound of pull tabs and screw caps...The Butterfly rang in as a dime...loud and proud...the rivet rang as zinc for some reason...I thought that was weird, as it appears to be steel.

HH,

That's a nice bunch of coins. Looks like the Land Star is doing a good job
for you once again. Man, a 1/4" rivet, that's a mighty small target. The Land
Star sure isn't lacking in the sensitivity department. Of course the operator
would have something to do with it too. In any event I am glad you had a
chance to get out. Good hunting to you ! Gene

I have found BBs with the Land Star as well...with the 4" coil of course...It Can and Will do the job when tuned right...

HH,

Hey folks,

I'm new to the site and wanted to say Hi! Just trying to get back into gold and the like, I used to crevice with my dad when I was 10-12, I know that was 50 years ago and things have changed a mite! no detectors back then, but now all the kids are up and gone and I find myself after 41 years in construction unemployed with time on my hands and alot of drywashes begging to be looked at here in Arizona, and mama gave me a Bounty Hunter Pioneer 101 years ago and I never got it out of the box so I'm going to give it a shot,I've never used a detector so I came here for some advice on it's use, Anybody out there want to give a newbie some pointers??? Thanks for your time!
