A 1963 pull tab from the days of silver

To me this is a great find , because the tab on the top is positivly from Mid to late 1963 the days when silver flowed like water down the river of comerce untill it was dammed in 65, the tab under this one was introduced in 1965 and stayed aoround until 1975 when the stay tab curse came around, WHAT DOES ALL THIS TELL ME well this spot may very well have silver coins in it and that is a good find to me .

I found one just like the top tab in the picture. Was wondering how old it was ..

Mc dave you are in some OLd ground then , and look you got silver see what I am saying and look in your pocket you have quarters form 1965 thats 46 years ago go back from 1964 46 years and you get back as far as 1918 on your coins maybe older as silver was not really collected or that valuble then so when you find those lift up your hopes for your silver draws nigh

The site just outside of town where I found these, is a corner lot where they dumped the old dirt from our downtown reconstruction project a few years back. There is 100 years worth of stuff buried 8 feet deep. I found that key-date 1914-D there a week ago last monday.

Hard to imagine that silver flowed like water lol but the silver coins exchanged hands like we exchange our clad every day. That tab is a great find and signifies you need to drag your body and detector back to the spot and investigate further. HH - Jim

Good informative post Gunnar. Helps our fellow detectorists know what these older tabs look like. Last time out, got the top & bottom one's in the same sidewalk grass area and several coins dating 1957-1963. Your dating is correct.
