A 1936 Fisher M-scope pix

There's a fellow named "Pete" on the other vintage forum, who was/is asking about this detector. He couldn't figure out pix-hosting/posting, so I got them hosted for him.

So here's for your enjoyment. Pretty cool, eh ? And wow, look at all those batteries it required! haha. I've asked Pete for better/clearer pix of the final label thing. I believe that's where he's gotten the 1936 post-mark off of, although this particular pix isn't too clear. As soon as he sends me clearer pix of that label wording, I'll post it.

And if anyone's looking for this as a collectible, chime in on the other forum, and perhaps he's got it for sale. It was passed down to him in a relative's estate or something.

Cool piece of history Tom, That is an old one.

I'm limited with time, But if you hear from him could you pass this along to him I would be very interested in purchasing this from him.

Thanks for posting the pic!

Paul, I will pass the message for him to click on your PM, via this forum. I'm guessing this would make it amongst the earlier 2-boxes you would have now in your collection , eh ?

And notice that with the clearer pictures I'm about to post (see the other added reply ) that the address of Fisher, at this point in 1936, was BEFORE they moved to Palo Alto. Interesting. And while Fisher Co. was started in 1931, yet it's possible that their detectors product didn't start till 1933 (their website is a little confusing on that matter, as it appears to say that the idea for a metal detector didn't occur to Fisher till "1933", when Fisher saw some anomolies occuring with his aircraft products he was making at the time). Anyhow, no matter how you slice it, 1936 is within a few years of the founding of their company. Probably still when they were hand-making custom orders.

And I notice from the additional pix that this was sent to a public works dept. I wonder if they were trying to use it for pipe-locating ?

And the seller "Pete" says he has some hand-written instructions dated 1961, from his grandfather, that he found in the box.
