9v rechargeable batteries?

Rob (IL)

New member
I have a CZ coming and it uses 2 - 9v batteries. I see there are 8.4v and 9.6v NIMH and 8.4 Li ion rechargeable batteries. I'm new to 9V detectors. I haven't got many answers as to which batteries would be best. Help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure about the lower 8.4v. On the other hand the 9.6v got iffy reviews on Amazon. What are you using?

Just so happens this same topic is on the Tesoro forum, lots of good info and here is the link.

NiZn batteries are great, the extra volt won't hurt the voltage regulator. I use the 9v LiPo (8.4v) and they work fine also. hold a charge for a long time. (they don't self discharge quick)
NiMH are the biggest gamble in my opinion. I have thrown out every NiMH that I own because of their failure to hold a charge for more than a couple days.
After being ready to get an early start and find my NiMH batterys dead that I charged 2 days earlier, that was the end of them!

Never saw a 9V NIZN battery.

It's hard to beat the 9.6V PowerEx rechargeables.
