95 percent of targets turn out to be pieces of aluminum

canslaw and pulltabs. Searching parks for gold jewelry. Mostly ignore coin signals. Using Cortes and Vaquero. Is there a machine by any manufacturer that is not so hot on aluminum or that can ID it better?

Sometimes it can be avoided by listening for a scratchy, uneven audio signal on an otherwise solid target. I'm using a Cibola and I am starting to get a little better at knowing if a target is aluminum.

Foil is easier to distinguish than scraps of can or other more solid aluminum.

I've used the Sovereign and the Excalibur for years and they give a real low, raspy sounding response to aluminum but they give the same response for gold filigree, like finely worked gold pendants.

Personally, I dig everything if it gives a solid, repeatable audio response. I don't want to miss the odd piece of jewelry or gold chain by passing up a signal that sounds iffy.
