Hi all, I am new to MDing. Still shopping for my first detector. I've been doing a lot of on line research before buying. I was planing on spending about $250 on a used unit. AS I educated myself, I decided I wanted something with numerink and ID. So, I knew I was looking for something like the Fisher F2 or Teknetics Delta . On a whim, I called a few pawn shops in my area. One of them has a Discovery 3300 for $95. When I looked it up, I saw that it had every feature I am looking for.

To put it simply, what would you do?

I srarted three months ago with a tracker IV and a bh pioneer 505 which I understand is the same as the 3300. got them both used for 350 total. Havent regretted either one the 505 is awesome. I would go for the deal on the 3300.

Little over a year ago I bought my first MD off eBay for $75 bucks. It was a BH pioneer 202.I wanted to find out if I even liked the hobby without making a huge investment. After a day or two I realized this was for me.I think that's a good way to start. For 95 dollars you can't go wrong.

I suggest downloading the owner's manual and printing a copy. Read the copy and take it with you to the store and test the living "you know what" out of the machine. Take along two brand new 9v batteries.

Buying it used, it most likely will not have a warranty and the store may sell it "as is."

If it works OK in all modes, (The owners manual tell you to use a steel nail, pre 1982 penny, nickel dime quarter etc) and take along a pull tab to test with. If all checks out. grab that SOB, for it will be a bargain.

That's odd. I didn't know Obama had taken possession of this site, too. LOL

Now I don't care who you are... That was funny!

I've been browsing this site (just joined today). I'm waiting for my new Titan 2000xd Pro to be delivered. I hope to be able share some excellent finds with you folks real soon.
