Had a last minute chance to get out so loaded up and went! Decided old city park as generally the big trees give a bit of a windbreak. 39 degrees and light wind, ground was pretty saturated so easy to dig.
First thing out the gate? A clad quarter at 3” deep and note the half silver and half copper tones on the coin, thats a first! Followed up by a clad dime, several zincolns, a stainless steel nut, some type of a pin that if you look close you can see I only found the backing (glue obvious on its face (diamond shape piece)). Then an ear screamer! A Matchbox type toy at 2”.
Up near the picnic shelter I saw cones and “dangerous” tape, ok thats an invitation! City dug up a small area at the end of the shelter and added a small cement pad extension. I figured 90% of the spoils already removed but still a little bit left so in I went and a quick scan done. Five feet in I get a solid quarter signal and figured clad quarter. Surprise!!!! 1956 Quarter at 2”!!!!!
Only other goofy find was the stainless steel fork that whispered to me it was a 50c piece.
Cold, getting dark, but the silver made it a warm daylight moment.
