9 x 12 Rino Prof on an Ace 250

it gets about2-3 inches better depth then the stock coil. It retains it's sensitivity to tiny metal objects. Pinpointing is a breeze. Great for hunting old sports fields with deep coins. Also good for hunting (gridding) large areas, as the coils covers a greater area per sweep. It doesn't do so well in junk infested areas, as too many targets under the coil at one time can mask some good targets.

A bunch plus I tested it for Garrett. Great performer and will get you 2-3 inches more depth over the stock coil.

Hi overev, the boys have said it all,the only thing i have trouble with is its weight, after a while i get a very sore arm,the 250 is so light it doesnt counterweight the coil,I am toying with puting another handle grip under the control unit ,other than that it is a winner, Bazz :ausflag:

The 9x12 is a ripper coil. I use it 90% of the time on my Ace. You can't beat it for ground coverage. Almost double that of the standard coil. It's no slouch at getting in close to play equipment either. It hunts almost as close as the standard coil.
Bazz. In regards to the weight; I assume that you are hunting with the coil cover on. I found it too heavy to hunt with, with that on. (Got some nerve damage to my bicep, so heavier weights are too much to cope with). I have found that with no coil cover, it is only about 60 grams (2oz) heavier than the standard coil with a cover on it. Also, I took some of Phil's (Gold mining Centre) advise, and hunt with the coil fairly close to my toes. I find it fairly comfortable, but I do swap hands regularly. Doing this allows me to hunt up to about 4 hours without any ill effects.
Mick Evans.

Yeah I'm ambidextrous and probably hunt more with my left hand than my right so it all works out well for me. If everyone practiced hunting with both arms they could hunt longer without tiring out.

Bill

Hi Mick and Bill,I have been useing my left hand and feel like a fish out of water, practic makes perfict i guess,Mick I wouldnt be game to detect with out the coil cover,it has saved it so many times, one day a mate threw a bolt over to me to have a look at and it hit the coil, the cover saved his hide,I wasnt happy i can tell you, catch up one day Bazz :argue:

Gday Bazz. Yeah, I hear you on that. I've got about 120 hours on the Ace now, and noticed last week that I have a small chip in it the big coil. I mostly hunt in parks, so I haven't been too worried about the coil; but if I decide to hunt rougher spots, then I think that I'll use the standard coil with the cover.
It would be good to catch up one day. Who knows. If I can take up hang gliding, then I'll probably find myself in your neck of the woods at some point.
All the best,
Mick Evans.

I'm a believer in coil covers.. I have one for each
of my coils, and they stay looking like new.
Another advantage to me, is I can sweep the ground
lower being I'm not so paranoid about thrashing the
coil. Also no worries about scratching the bottom
when pinpointing, and scrubbing the ground.
The sniper coil really doesn't need one, as it
has a plastic covered bottom. But I have one anyway
for double protection.. I bought one for my stock coil
when I bought the machine, and I got one for the 9x12
coil as soon as they came out.
The only thing about the covers, is it's a good idea
to pull them off and clean everything once in a while.
Will help keep them from getting too stuck, and also
it's a good idea to clean all the dirt and dust out.
Some might have metallic particles.. If it's dirty,
and then water gets in the cracks, that can cause them
to stick and get tough to get off once the "mud"
dries. I also use a rain cover which I leave on all the
time. Keeps dirt/water out of the buttons, and protects it
if it falls over..

The covers will also collect moisture and debris that will cause your tector to false and really mess up your day. :)
