9 X 12 Concentric vs Stock Coil

Canewrap

New member
Was wondering if anyone has run a comparison, for depth, between the 9 X12 concentric and the 8.5 X 11 stock coil? That would be in good to moderate ground, as I know in iffy ground the stock coil is the better choice. I need the deepest, best discriminating coil for relic hunting and only sometimes is the ground bad enough to really warrant the DD coil.

Not sure of the 9 x 12. But I just put a Nell Tornado on my AT GOLD and I have been killing it. Finding way more silver and going way deeper than when I used the 8 1/2 x 11 coil. Going back to areas I have hunted before and areas I know I have been over before and finding deep coins. A lot of deep clad here as area has flooded many times. I love this nell coil !!!!!!!

Give us a bit more info Thinlizzie.:clapping:..sure sounds interesting...really makes that big a difference over the stock dd for you?:shrug: Makes it onto a real monster on deep silver? Could compete with the ML boys rigs?

OH YES Mr. Mudpuppy. Finding silver and a lot of clad in areas I know I have been over before. Wanted to see if the tornado worked and it does . Goes way deeper same numbers on coins , very quiet and easy to pinpoint off front of coil. The 8 1/2 x 11 probably will never go back on the at gold. On good Friday 2 silver rings 1920 merc, and a 64 rosie. In an area I know I have been over before. The rosie was down 9 inches and very clear 81 on at gold. I love this nell coil !

Holy Bleep! :thumbup::surprised:

I've got the AtPro, but have been super impressed with the stock 11" dd for gold water hunting...I run a mid to low sens and am amazed at some of the depth of the targets...now if a guy can soup it up with a coil like that, and hammer the hell out of silver/gold on the dirt too..well, that might be the perfect set-up for all things considered...?. Do you think it would give me an advantage in the water on the Pro?

Couldn't answer the water hunting question . In Pittsburgh,Pa. area Do not do any water hunting here, At least I don't. More trash in the water here than on land. I think this area is paved with pull tabs.

Well, it would probably be good for us for you to post some settings and your hunting style...I hunt some pretty deep sand in the water up on Lake Mich, sandbars are always moving, so a guy might be shooting hardpack one minute and in a couple of feet of sand the next as the sandbars shift and move...that said, plenty of tabs and foil and the usual junk,..just looking to up my game and not miss some deep stuff, even though digging a deep hole is a challenge...I like to settle on something hot, balanced, and learn it well, which generally takes me several years...If I'm confident my gear is up to the task, then I can work out the optimal solution per site you know?

My Greatest fear is missing something great just an inch or so out of reach, sometimes a fellow can walk miles between pings, and I dont want to miss a big gold chain, which is what I'm hunting predominately. I am very interested in your success with the tornado coil on this rig..I am looking for the optimum set up that I can dedicate myself to learn and master...If its the Pro with the Tornado coil...then ok...thanks man.!

I use pro mode with iron audio. full sensitivity , no discrimination . I like to hunt very slow and take my time. Hunt mostly old parks in this area and a lot of relics to be had . This is a very old area . a lot of 1700's history also in area. My hunting buddy found a 1783 reale with his ML last week so you never know what might pop up out of the dirt.
