9" x 12" Concentric Coil For AT Pro...

Hey all!! I am considering buying the 9 x 12 Proformance concentric for my AT Pro. Does anyone currently use this coil and if so, any reviews would be awesome!! Thank you...

I am going to be using coil this for fields with little to no trash....I do not wish to go for a larger DD.

I use one....I like it. It is a bit nose heavy but then again I think the AT Pro with either of the bigger coils is nose heavy...not bad...but it is there.

My ground GB's around 82 or so and I don' thave any problems running concentric coils. Honestly I have never found that the DD coils were a huge gain in most soil I hunted UNLESS the ground was real hot. I suppose it also matters what kind of minerals are in the soil like say alot of iron oxide...that would probably require a DD....but overall I have tried DD and concentrics side by side and even in our soil not much gain one way or another and certainly not enough to sway you to one over the other.

I like a concentric in iron trash...just me...so I like this coil and I use it some trashy ground. Now if it is real trashy I will toss on the 5x8 onbviously but for general hunting I like the 9x12. I run mine at full sens and I don't get a peep out of the Pro as far as chatter...actually I kinda would like to be able to raise sens high enough to make her chatter that way I know where the max level is. Anyway the coil runs fine.

Some people swear by DD' s and others prefer a concentric like me. If you like concentrics you should like this coil.

The 9x12 is the largest coil made by Garrett for the AT Pro. I asked Bart at Big Boys Hobbies about it. I asked him if there was a significant increase in depth with the 9 x 12 and he said the 8.5 x 11 was better. It also had better pin pointing. I haven't seen any larger after market like they have for the ACE 350.

Hi CousinEddie, In my ground concentric coils don't even come close to the performance of DD coils. I usually ground balance around 89 and the 9x12 concentric didn't even see an 8 inch silver dime and the 8x11 DD hit it hard. I have no trouble at all getting down 10+ inches with the 8x11 DD coil. But that being said I find at least 75% Of my old coins at 6 inches or less mixed in with the trash, so my favorite coil by far is the 5x8 DD it is killer in the trash and gets great depth as well.

What has been your best depth with the 5x8 DD coil? I hear 10 inches is the average for the 8.5x11" DD. My machine with both coils should be here tomorrow, the next day at the latest. Can't wait to re-hunt a couple sites.

Well, usually when I'm using the 5x8 I'm hunting the more trashy areas not really going for depth, but even in areas like this you get the occasional whisper hit, there tough to hear with all that's going on under the coil but I have pulled out a few 9 inch silver dimes. So I know it's more than capable. As far as the 8.5x11 inch coil so far my deepest coin has been a buffalo nickel at 13 inches.

Thirteen inch depth is really good. I haven't heard of many other machines getting that.
There's a company in Brody, Ukraine making coils as large as 13x15 for Garrett ACE and GTI machines. Maybe someday they will make them for the AT's. That would cover some ground, and add a little depth. I'm thinking of getting one for my Ace 350.
