-9 targets on X-terra 50

Treasure Nut

Has anyone dug a target that registered -9 on the display?

Just curious. I now have my X-Terra 50 for 2 years now and am very impressed with it. I always hunt in All-Metal mode. Only I have never had a target that indictated as -9 on my detector.

-6 sure show up a hell-of-a-lot though, :rage: which consists of nails, Canadian coins on edge, and other junk targets.

Thanks

I've had my x50 for a couple of months and seen quite few -9 readings but not yet dug one. I just figured it was hot rocks or a very small piece of iron. Maybe I'll check one out to confirm.

I've never encountered a -9 TID in the field. However, when I was field testing the X-50, I found that one ferrite sample would provide the -9 TID. Interesting (at least to me) was that neither the X-70 nor the X-30 would give any indication on that specific ferrite sample. It seems to me that a -9 must be "out of the range" of the X-70 and X-30, as their ferrous readings only went to a -8. Although I have not encountered a -9 in the field, I would probably dig them if I got one. Based on my circular discrimination theory, I believe that the most negative TID can "overlap" with the most positive "non-ferrous" target ID. Therefore, I wonder if a "handful" of silver dollars might not bounce between -9 and +48 and +46? Never found a handful of silver dollars in the field. So at this point, it is just a theory. Let me know what you get that registers -9 in your area. Just can't imagine what else it could be that I already haven't dug up, be it good or bad.

Thanks Randy, appreciate your feedback.

I find I have no need to notch out -9. There's nothing that I have found yet to give me this TID #.
