ML....... if you are watching...... we really need a 9" coil for water hunting. The 6" has been impressive..... but its coverage ... ugh. I know someone locally.... believe it of not hes using the 6" in the water just because of its sensitivity and depth which in the salt water with setting adjustments can be as hot at the 11. Hes doing crazy good with that tiny coil. I dont have the patience and i cringe at what he might be missing...... but when you hunt behind him and you have 1 gold and ends up with 3 and are using the standard coil you start to wonder....... but man I dont have the patience and i cringe at what he might be missing.thats a tiny coil.
???????????????????????????
"I don't have the patience and i cringe at what he might be missing"....Re 9" coil.
Hey Dew.....If you have limited patients, then why not 'spend' more on that problem; (time)?
Believe me,; you won't necessarily find more in such circumstances, because of a bigger coil.
If your mate is so successful with his 6", then he must be 'doing it right'.
The larger the coverage of a coil, the greater the 'attendant-negative-factors' incurred; including retarding 'drag' in water.
Remember, the energy supplied to the smaller coil, is the same as that to the larger one; If correctly matched to the E-Trac.
Therefor the smaller coil focuses a stronger field within its limited range (along its central axis,) than does the larger coil over that region.
THAT's JUST ONE OF IT's ADVANTAGES
After that, it's advantage is dependent on the user's sweep/searching disciplines; which your mate appears to successfully employ.
That factor, (with luck involved), will always win the day.
I love the smaller coils
Good luck..whatever you choose to hunt with....matt
p.s. Dew........How can you possibly cringe over something you have no knowledge of..(i.e. what he's missing.)?
