Story will follow later today on this same thread. Thanks for following me on my quest.

I am officially metal detected out. Got up and started to get ready. Took a look at the thermometer and it was 73 at 6:30. When I left at 7am it was 76. Drove to my primo clad spot. I was only digging coins including nickels at first but after 2 hours I switched to Cu cent and above. With the temperature climbing by the minute I couldn't afford to dig junk. First hour 43 coins. Long break and lots of water. Second hour 40 coins. Longer break. A soda and sandwich. Third hour 19 coins and I could barely move and I was getting delirious. It was taking me several minutes to recover targets. I gave up on a few signals I normally would recover in a few seconds. I was thoroughly spent and decided I would have to finish up later rather than risk my health. I had a 20 mile drive and about 6 miles from home was another good clad spot. I decided top drive by it and see how I felt after more water and some AC. I was there about 20 minutes and got the 13 coins I needed plus one extra. 10,000 was a 1982 Copper Cent. 10,001 a Texas State quarter that is nice and shiny but was buried about 3 inches. Photo is elsewhere on this thread. Second photo, this post, is the temperature when I got home at about 12:15. I had the good sense to turn the air on before I left. Had a long, cold shower. I weighed myself and had lost 6 pounds in 4 hours. That was with drinking 72 ounces of soda and water and eating a big sandwich.

If interested here is a breakdown of the year which officially ends next Saturday. I am not planning on any more detecting during this heat wave.

Coin totals 6/15/07-6/08/08 (51 weeks with 14 weeks off during the Winter.) All with Garrett machines.

One Cent- 2983
Five Cent- 1092
Ten Cent- 3189
Twenty-Five Cent- 2713
Fifty Cent- 15
One Dollar- 9

I reckon I will try for 10,000 in calendar 2008 too. I have 5604 coins to go for that one. I am also only 14999 coins away from 25,000 coins lifetime.

Photo one is todays loot. Note there was nothing but clad. 116 coins in 3 1/2 hours. Only one coin spill of 3 coins too. I will go back to this site and retrace my steps from today and get the rest of the goodies.

Congats on a job well done.

Yeah right, khouse. I just have a lot of free time.

I'll tell you how bad I still have the bug. Now that I am back at 100 percent, and I gave the old 2500 a good bath, and I got a load of clad in the tumbler, and another ready to go when that comes out, I'm thinking I might be able to sneak in an hour tomorrow someplace close to home before the heat really kicks in.

Congratulations on hitting the 10 000 mark Chris.:clapping: Don't goals do horrible things to you. I set them occasionally, and they can do horrible things to you when things aren't going right, but relieving when you reach them.

If I told you how many modern coins I've found since May 1st, you'd fall over. I had it real bad. Yeah I still have it too.
