9.5 stock or 6x10DD ???

I am a newbie and my M6 got delivered today. I have the stock 9.5 and also ordered 6x10DD.
My question is if I am hitting parks, totlots in my area...mostly clay soil, should I use the 9.5 or the 6x10DD and what will be the difference?
I purchased the DD because I'll be going to some beaches and some highly mineralized area in the UP.
Thanks from a newbie!

I feel the DD coil works better in high mineralization (like my area) and i would assume the DD also where alot of trash necessitates more separation than the 950 can give.My yard has a build up of all kinds of stuff (since 1856) that is close together and my 4X6 DD did the job of separation that i needed.I had more than one target under my 950 and it is totally unusable in such a scenario(to me anyway).HTH

I use both coils for my dfx and I have had good luck with both..I like the 6x10 alittle better I guess because I have found some of my oldest finds with it...Though the the stock is alittle easier to pinpoint with cause it has the hole in the middle....The Gooch

I keep the 6X10 on my MXT most of the time. The only time I change is in really heavy trash, then the 4X6 comes into play. In my experience the 6X10 handles trashy areas quite a bit better than the 9.5, but the little guy really shines. Enjoy your new machine.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll get to try this hobby out for the first time tomorrow.
Hopefully, someday soon, I'll even get some pics up here.

Thanks Bill, I was wondering about that too.
Some people say they NEVER take their DD coil off
but thinking about it I wondered if that was because they have just
bad soil in their area, and maybe thats ALL the DD was intended for, that and trash
seperation. So, the DD works just as well in good soil?

The 6X10 DD works fine in good soil. May not get quite the depth of the standard, but is a fair bit better than the standard for slipping thru trash. Not as good as the smaller ones, however.

RR if you have the book "The MXT Edge" their are graphs in the back that show that a 950 is a bit better in good soil and the 6X10 is a bit better in mineralized soil.HTH Tom

I use both and am constantly switching them.
I use the 950 stock coil at the beach or non-trashy areas.
I use the DD in Parks and tot lots and trashy areas.
I find a slower sweep speed for the DD really pays off... sometimes what seems like a broken signal are two good ones next to each other.. sweeping slower and adjusting for it really pays off in those trashy areas and can pick through the debris. The DD is much easier to deal with when hunting next to large metal objects like fences and play area equipment.
The stock coil run deeper and can cover a larger area..it seems to me..and works wonders on the beach ..in my area.
Have fun!

"Though the the stock is alittle easier to pinpoint with cause it has the hole in the middle."

I'm afraid my experience is different. I really do not like how the stock coil pinpoints as I can be as much as two inches off my target. However, using the 6X10 DD (which I reaffirmed this past weekend on an old homesite) I can pinpoint dead on and don't spend a lot of precious time looking for my target.

I'm still trying to get the hang of pin pointing with the 6x10DD coil. I find the actual target
about 70% of the time but I have to really dig around for the remaining 30%. I'm getting a BullsEye from
my dealer ( my MD dealer, in case anyone is wondering ) This should solve the problem to some extent.

Regards
RR
