9.5" coil or 6x10 DD on dry sand beach hunting with MXT?

I will be doing some of my first dry sand beach hunting with my MXT in the next few days and wanted to ask if anyone has an opinion wheter I should use my stock 9.5" coil or the 6x10 DD coil? Any info would be great. Thanks!

Bring both to the beach, bury a representative target deep enough to get a weak response and then try the other coil. Use the one that performs the best at your location.

Enjoy.

If you are a "skimmer" the Concentric will work fine. But if you are like me and prefer to keep the coil in contact with the sand the DD is easier to use. It will plow down the bumps between footsteps and allow you to keep the coil closer overall to the surface which more than makes up for any difference there maybe in sensitivity to small targets and it gives good coverage. If the beach has not been used much and is relatively flat go with Jeffs advice.

They both have their advantages in terms of ground smoothing, response to jewelry, footprint extra.

Your best shot is to use them BOTH.
