8X6 S.E.F. COIL

GroundScanner

Active member
Hello and good morning . I was wondering on the 8x6 s.e.f. coil is it 8" wide x 6" tall and a DD in the middle about 2 inches. So is it picking up sorting thru 6x2 inches of the ground ?

Yes, it's 8" tall or long and 6" wide. I believe you are correct in saying that the active part of the coil would detect a 2" x 8" strip down the middle of the coil. Due to the design of these coil, they cover more quantity of deeper ground than a concentric coil. That 2" x 8" strip detects almost all of that measurement to whatever the deepest penetration of that coil is. A concentric coil, on the other hand, forms like a short squat ice cream cone shaped field beneath the ground which becomes a small point at it's deepest penetration. So Double from suface to deepest point shaped like 0" OOOOOO 8" Concentric 0" OOoo.... 8".

You're very welcome! Happy hunting.
