Call this beginners blessings---or something..

I was out the other night---and my arm was tired, so I was dragging the detector while I walked--and I got a pretty good sound...went over it a few times..and it was a bit shaky and all over the place..but, strong enough to dig---

Well, about 6" down I flipped out the quarter w/the V nickel stuck to it (you can see the ring on the quarter where the nickel was)---I was thrilled..I had never found silver that old..and was really pumped to found (at the time I didn't know) something else that was equally as old...

So, as I stood up...I swept the hole again, and got a solid sound...I pinpointed...made the hold wider, and found the Barber Dime...wow...3 coins, how great...well, I swept again, and got a signal for (thanks to Jim/Upstate NY cheat sheet) a silver 1/2 dollar...sure enough, I dug a bit deeper and pulled it out.....the hole still had something in it...and it took me a long time to find it..but, that was the hunk of metal...I have found a few of these---can anyone help tell me what it is...? (I am assuming something for horse-shoe-ing?

Thanks again to the people who have helped me with all my questions...

Nice! I'll give you a brand new dollar for that old stuff, and you can even keep the hunk of metal! :jump: WTG!! Congrats!
