Hi ellis,

I know nothing about these detectors so I have no idea how well they work. However, if you are talking about model TM 808, there are manuals available at the Whites site:
http://www.whiteselectronics.com/

On the site in the SUPPORT menu, select MANUALS and sub-category ENGLISH. In the Specialty Metal Detectors section, click on TM 808 Instruction Manual and a pdf file of the manual will download.

There is another expanded manual for the TM 808 in the Older Whites Metal Detector Manuals section. It is in the TM Amphibian Manuals section.

Hope this helps,
Bob

It is used for finding caches.

About the only time I use one is when I'm called out (and paid) to find caches or underground cavities. Law enforcement needs that service from time to time.

It is great at finding large (full coke can size or greater) objects deep, or finding caves or voids. It can't find a silver dollar laying on top of the ground but can find a mason jar full of coins at 5 feet. Larger objects it can find much deeper.

Although I haven't tried it yet, I think it would be good at finding cannon balls and larger relics.

It is simple to use. Ground balance it and adjust the sens. and it is ready to go. Hold it like a suitcase and just walk until you hear a target. Pinpointing is a little tricky, but it don't take long to get it down. Whites has a video out that you can use to get up to speed with the TM 808.

Good luck with it.
