800 Threshold?

A question for the people who have considerable time with the 800. Do you run with audible threshold or do you use it in a "silent search" mode. Does an audible threshold help the 800 get better depth? I am playing around with running the threshold positive, but at this point, I do not see any difference between hearing the threshold and not hearing it. Thanks Ray

I have run it both ways (extreme slight threshold or just enough to silence it) My findings are identical to yours. I see no difference in depth.

I’ve seen no depth difference. I typically keep it to where I can’t hear the threshold. Sometimes when I’m in very trashy spots I will set the threshold so I can tell when I am passing over iron or something I have notched out.

I personally don't think effects performance at all. The manual evens states it that way, just the way you want to run it.
