8 x 6 SEF came in and WOW! It is a winner so far.

I took the 8 x 6 to my local hometown park that is hunted to death and was very pleased to say the least. The first thing I noticed was how quiet and stable it was with the sensitivity cranked up to 28 when this rocky soil only wanted to run at 12 to 15 in auto.

I found the 1905 V nickel in the first 10 min. at 5" in solid trash.I hunted for almost 4 hours before the rain got to heavy and ran me out or I would be hunting instead of posting. The 5 Indians were 3" to 5" deep and were loud and solid and also in the heavy trash along with the rest of the finds and the reason they were still there. The 1918s Merc was at a solid tape measured 6"+ and was a solid hit.

The wore out Barber quarter was about 6" and was a one way only hit next to big iron .It is worn thinner than a new dime! The arrow pin was about 5" and hit well. The Buffalo was only 3" but was it ever in some trash.

To say I am impressed so far would be an understatement .It way outperformed my 8" Minelab coil at this sight. As I said before this is rocky hilly sandstone ground and not much over 6" deep in this park including 128 years worth of junk.
I think I was impressed by the stability and lack of iron falsing at high sensitivity most of all so far but will need more time and several different areas to get full understanding of what it is capable of,Ray.
PS It also hits well on small items like the 2 small copper washers at over 3".

Looks like a heck of a first hunt with a new coil. Was you running I coin Mode? I checked and my coil's not supposed to be delivered until Monday the 1st, hope it finds a burst of speed along the way and makes it by Friday, I'd like to give it a run this weekend. Keep us posted on how the coil is doing. Seen that Bryce on the explorer forum had a friend that was using the 8x6 check a signal that turned out to be a silver ring at 8" and the coil picked it up, so it must have pretty darn good depth. when attaching it to the lower rod that the coil wire had to make a nasty turn in a short distance to slide it inside the shaft? It looked to me like it wouldn't take very long to do some serious damage to the connection where it goes into the coil. I grabbed the handy Dremel and ground some material off the lower shaft so the cord would angle towards the open part of the lower shaft with less of an angle. I may not be able to pole vault with it now but in normal tecting it should be fine. Wonder why the SEF folks didn't take that into consideration when designing the coil? It's a coil made for Minelab machines and they all have a darn similar entry into the lower shaft. Jim
