Old park produces again. This is the 3rd pre 1850 coin.
Rang in 11-41 in high trash setting

Great find! They did make a lot of counterfeits of these back in the day. Could it be one? Only ringing 11/41 for such a large coin makes me think.

I think this one is real it has that ring of silver on a table. It was found at a site where I have found several other us coins from the same era
the engraving is very clear and sharp. have not had any formal authentication done but don't think it is counterfeit
 
I found one of the 8R coins at a soccer compiles. It is an 1882. Many counterfeits of this coin. It should weigh right at 27.5 g if it is a real coin.
 
comes in at 27 gms. fair amount of wear and one chip in the rim.
was found in an area where there was a lot of river traffic and commerce during the civil war
I understand that the 8 reale coins were used by the confederacy instead of the union silver dollars.
