8" Mono Coil & Weight

My question is simply, how much lighter is the ATX with the Mono coil? Is there a noticeable difference in swinging the detector using the smaller coil?

Yes, my ATX is lighter and better balanced with 8" mono but unfortunately I am unable to say by how much. I am on the road right now. I am prospecting and have my ATX along, and 8" mono is on it and DD coil is at home, so I guess that kind of says how I feel about that.

Steve, any specific reason why you chose the 8'' Mono coil over the stock coil ??? was it to do with the ground conditions or just personal choice,i use a Garrett 8'' Mono coil aswell and its my become favourite.

The 8" mono does improve the weight and balance of the ATX and since I am gold prospecting the form factor is better suited to what I am doing.

Thanks Steve for the feedback. I have the stock coil and the 20" one but am really wanting to get the mono coil.

@Treasurehunter1967 ,both the 8'' and the 20'' coils are Mono, only the stock coil is a DD one,so you already have One Mono coil.

Not sure what the weight difference is between the 8" mono and stock DD but I'd guess about a pound, That one pound can make allot of difference when hunting all day.

Can compare the Garrett Infinium 5"X10" coil though, Between the two it's almost a pound. For land use prefer the 5"X10" over the stock DD allot more comfortable to swing, With the Infinium coil replaced the Infinium cable with the same Recon/ATX coiled type so the cable would recoil back into the shaft.

Eventually will get the 8" mono coil here soon will need this coil for fresh water lakes, Been so busy with relic hunting will eventually will get back with the ATX for gold jewelry detecting lakes and such before my local friends find it all :)
