8 inch excelerator coil question

The 8" Excelerator is a concentric coil used when the ground has little mineralization.
 
The depth on the 8 inch excelerator is no where near the depth of the minelab coil. In my test garden the 8 inch excellerator would not even give a whisper on a coin at 5 inches , the minelab coil sounded off loud and clear.
