This thing is insane, it will pick up a .177 caliber pellet at 3 inches. I'm wondering if this would be a good disc setting for small gold and little relics when the pellet would just start to be discriminated out?

You need to try and find a small gold sample to put in front of your machine, lead is pretty far up the disc scale from gold. I use a small ear post for my small gold testing.
On my 8" Compadre a tiny 14k post earring can be heard to about 2 inches with the disc as low as it will go. It hits hard on bigger pendants and rings to very nice depths.
Well I don't have a Compadre nor do I have a .177 pellet, but!!!
I do have a Tejon (with the 5.75" Widescan coil mounted)
A 22 cal pellet cut in half.
In disc mode the best I can do air testing that combination is 5"
We are note allowed to compare other brand machines on this forum. So I will just say the Tejon is the best machine I have ever had for gold and it is pretty strong on the coins as well.
Here is a picture of my air test results and the gold test items I used. I have posted this before but maybe it will be interesting to some new viewers.
