8 Days 8 wheat pennys and one silver?

INCH

New member
Couple hours everyday after work. Today I found A 1942 Palestine 50 MIL coin, i think its silver because when I rub it lightly it turns silver , not for sure but I think its good for silver, VDI of 86 on the PRO . I also found what i think is a Presidential commemrative coin, it's about the size of a half dollar and looks to b made of copper VDI 81., the edge of the coin is just like regular coins and not smooth like a token, so I dont know? I dont know nothing about most of this stuff I Dig folks ,I'm sorry . Most of the treasures in the pics I found last 7 days , but today I found a little silver coin today" I think." Also found an Alabama tax token made of aluminum. The quality of my pics sucks, I need to get a better camera or some kind of better lighting when i use the Macro setting on the camera . After digging over a thousand targets in the past week and not finding no silver or cool relics A person can give up hope , but I think I'm gonna keep motoring along . Thanks for looking

I am pretty sure your "coin" is one of 36 "coins" made in 1968 by the Franklin Mint*, called the Presidential Hall of Fame Coin Set. It should be about 39 mm in dia, and is made of Bronze.

* The Franklin Mint is private and not affiliated with the US Mint, so don't try to spend it........

Thanks for the information HOSS. I found them yesterday and have'nt took time to look them up yet . Thanks again:thumbup:

And here's the rest of the Root cuttin fun finds. I Tried the Macro setting on my camera with the wheat penny pics, but I think I'm holding the camera to close and not enough light when I take the pics. Not Good at the camera stuff, but I 'll get better.

For better pics, find a spot outdoors. Doesn't have to be in the direct sunlight, just outside. Your pics will have a more natural color. Take at least 3 shots of each thing you plan to post and edit the best one of each. Take one close up, and the other 2 a little farther back each time. You may get better results from a cropped pic taken farther back than one really close. See???

This pic was taken from a distance of about 1 foot and then cropped. If you don't have any software to crop and resize, there is a free download at the Olympus website for Olympus Master2 that is pretty simple to use for downloading, cropping and resizing your pics.

I always shoot pics with the knowledge that I can crop out what I don't want and it will bring up the subject better.

Thanks for the tip on crop. Heres a couple before and afters . I cropped the lock and the coin using photo scape editor. I'll get better and thanks again

Good finds Inch. Hang in there and thanks for picking up all that junk. It's good for our image. If you get challenged by someone about detecting, you can show them how you're cleaning the place up!
