8" coils...

anybody done a head-to-head comparison between the Minelab 8" slimline Tornado and the Sun Ray S-8 (Sovereign)?
And something I've always wondered, just to generate opinions...how can a somewhat smaller and more limited financially, I would guess (please don't take this wrong Ralph..."I love you man"...ha) company such as Sun Ray, produce such great accessories for detectors that are equal to or better than those of the bigger parent companies themselves?

Very true.

But as to this instance, the two coils are very similar, I have both, and favor the tornado because it is a tad smaller, at 7.5 inches, and when the sens is turned up, they are the same depth.

there really is not much in the two.

when Minelab done the older BBS coils, sun rays coils were better,

hope this helps

This old test was just my notes so excuse my definition the zing is the good coin tone sound.

Your tests with the 8" tornado pretty well match those I got with my BBS 800.
I use air tests for reference only to determine if the detector and coil appear to be working about right under a "no dirt" condition. Still does not mean that it will work right in dirt.
