8'' and 10'' coils difference?

Is there a difference in depth in these coils? I have the 8'' BBs and 10'' tornado and prefer the 8'' because its easier to pinpoint, and I hunt wooded areas 90% of the time. I realize you get more coverage with the 10'' but Is there a reallly noticeable difference in depth? I have heard people mention on other detector models that there really is not a difference between the two inches xtra as far as depth. Any input appreciated.

I mostly beach hunt and found theres about a 2 or 3 inch difference between the coil in depth. Not sure if that would equate the same in the woods. There is almost 3" difference in coverage as the 8" coils by minelab are actually 7 1/4".
By the way the 8" Tornado is noticably lighter than the 8" BBS coil and a bit more sensitive to smaller targets also, you might want to keep your eyes open for one of them.

TC, I agree with Neil, the Slim Line 800 is a great coil and they are hard to find used or a good deal. The 10 inch Slim Line coil is going to give you better depth, but usually the sensitivity will have to run lower. The 10 inch will pin point well also. The 8 inch Coin Search coil would be a great coil for your type of hunting and can be found often on the classifieds for a good price.

a Sunray S-12 and a WOT. I don't see much difference in depth between the 8" and 10" just a little better coverage. The 8" can I can run the sensitivity up a little more, and it makes up for the depth compared the the 10". On the beach, I mainly use the WOT, it's slightly deeper then the S-12 and I like the coverage a little better. I like all the coils for different reasons. Good luck....
