Dry times, for me my yeald of coins pr acre is low , mostly nuts and bolts and cut nails and a few slugs, I sure miss getting a silver coin , but i still move on in a relentless drone , the aluminum can was cut right in half by the disq and was about 10 ft apart then i hit the tab 5 ft away and it was 11" down whear as the other two bigger pices were on the suface and i got the tab to come thru in disq 11 " deep thats amazing so i know if another coin is lurking i will hit that found lots of Items 11" and 12" deep must be the depth of the plow , by the way the ct nails are for sale 10.00 each ha ha ,

Those slugs you are finding - are you able to tell what different types they are........... I have seen a few people selling these type of things..

Nails and slugs - good age to them I would imagine, so there is plenty of hope for some good stuff to appear

I presume those slugs are made of lead ?? If so, that's important as lead has a slightly higher density than silver so if you are finding lead then any silver coins should be at a comparable or shallower depth.

Beach bat , good point " i was thinking the same thing they are lead slugs and they were not deep 6"---- in fact two of the silver coins were both on the 1st 2" and only one the barber was at about 8" i could come across a coins spill at any time . or maybe some gold no one has hunted it in 140 years so that is good

Hey Gunnar,

you found some more neat relics from the field! I know they aren't silver / copper coins and really hope you stumble onto some. Look at it this way, you are the first to grace the property with a metal detector ( or as someone put it to me today a geiger counter lol) You have a super time machine to reach back into history and pull out the goods. You have extreme patients and dedication and with these qualities, those good targets will present themselves. We definitely know people have been on the land due to the items you are recovering and they might have just fallen in the snow while hunting and spilled all the coins out of their pocket! OR the farmer's tractor broke down and had to climb under or on the side to fix it and lost the Indian head cents that were in his pocket. More time with the coil to the ground = more items found.(good and bad) Your most certainly right, gold, silver and relics are all great possibilities. Keep on keeping on and thanks for posting / sharing the finds on the farm. - Jim
