7th Century Saxon gold & garnet cross found in England

Something magical about Saxon jewellery, the quality of the craftsmanship is truly amazing,as it was found in a saxon burial which are often pretty shallow and not the depth of modern graves ie 6ft,some are even being ploughed out as more powerful tractors are dragging ploughs even deeper down to these grave depths, hence some are being dragged out the ground.

As it came from a grave of a youngster its highly possible that other's may be very close by,usually family being buried nearby.

Amazing craftsmanship for something made in days of old. Thanks much for pic, will try to find the story behind it. John
