Up at 4 and on the Forums...at the beach by 5...big old Orion the hunter up in the dark sky....walked the beach for a 1/2 mile...got 1 Q and a P... into the knee deep water at a cut and VERY First target sounded like a couple of pulltabs....took a few scoops...reached into the scoop and could feel a chain...thought, "this is pretty damn heavy"...kept trying to hunt, but thinking that signal, and how I focus on those chain type targets, and then my imagination started to run away with me and my knees got wobbly and started to come unhinged...I could not concentrate anymore, so walked back to the car to have a look...I carry a 10x loup in there..and a magnet...still couldn't be sure...non magnetic, but so is brass, but this thing felt so heavy and smooth, not like brass at all...so I just drove home and got here at 6:30...hit it with 10k acid, hit it with 14, hit it with 18...still no effect! What the hell is this? I started looking closely at the links and by damn there was .999 and some hallmarks and stuff on two of them! I have no idea what the tid was, but like I said, it sounded like a couple pulltabs...I think I'll crack a beer and call it a day!

Have a few beers, you got a wife or gal to celebrate with for being patient with your hobby? Take them out for a really nice meal or bring something special home (we like lobstahs 👍).
Since you probably don't walk around wearing chains like that consider (in the future) having it made into something special, personal or a couple items to wear and remind you of that rush. I took nondescript wedding bands and broken gold finds and had the made into a belt buckle - 1/4 pound Troy 14K oval.
Now are you up near the Great Lakes or St. Lawrence seaway? I'm curious where members on the forum water hunt (general location).
I've got hit a lake today....
Congrats bud, that's bragging rights on the beach an water forum. With some of the big players on that forum posting awesome finds your chain is a major trophy!!!
Garrett would probably use your pic & story to sell more AT's....

Man, that's an incredible find & couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!. Now you can afford a wet suit so you don't go hypothermic on us. I wonder what possessed them to put so much soft, pure gold into a chain? and then wear it while swimming- it probably drowned the wearer, heh. Tell the truth; was it on a skeleton?
 
Dudes, I'm still shaking...I went back out, took it with me to get some better pics and do a TID..it bounces from 42 to 63 in a real awful but strong signal...in fact, I can raise the coil 10" and still hear it...scares me to think of how many signals like this that are out there though, lots of foil and all...I was wearing it as I hunted, but could not concentrate, kept feeling for it...though I did find 3 pennys and a few sinkers:rofl:....makes me wonder if a coil ever went over it before, it sure sounds like a large piece of foil. Hallmarks and proof are good...Pro mode, 40disc, iron off...the wife is very happy and is wearing it when we go dancing this afternoon...this is the last I'll ever see of this monster I bet!.:sadwalk: The AtPro has been very good to me this summer...2 gold chains, 6 gold rings, 1 P4, and we are just now coming into the Fall storm season when the hunting is at its best...I might be able to afford a 7 mil wetsuit and go all winter now!

You will still have a chunk of change if you get a new detector.

I cant believe showed it to my Wife! :rofl: Yeah, well like Bruce was saying, we sort of have to give an account for the time they allow us to hunt. Shes gotten more jewelry out of me in the past 3 years than in all our 30+ combined. Bruce just posted on Aug 30 about this chain hunting subject, good thing too for a fellow to read these posts and take them to heart. BH, yes I guess this one qualifies me to finally receive the YOU SUCK award! I had that one coming!:rofl: Well, this forum is an inspiring place to get all wee-weed up and go out in search of things. Getting late,.I'm out,... over the fence and down the road, thinking 'bout silver, dreaming 'bout gold!:thumbup:

Holy smokers, mud. I got in early this morning from out of town and did a quick forum check and saw your post and monster chain. I wanted to get the stuff together and go hunting. Good judgement (wife) prevailed, though, so I just laid there and :drool: the rest of the night. Mighty fine hunting and recovery.:thumbup: HH jim tn
 
Good Lord! Mud that's a mighty nice find you got there. Thank goodness that the chain wasn't 18k gold, you'd died on the spot with excitement. :)

WTG Mud. Awesome find. I had to chew a couple aspirins when I seen that chain and change my plans to cut the grass tomorrow. It's hard to top a find like that. Now you just got to find some spanish doubloons or something from a shipwreck to keep things interesting.
Wish I could get to the beach somewhere. The river will just have to do, I guess. GL & HH. This find made my day and I'm too busy being happy for you and the wifey than being envious.
