Thanks to one of our knowledgeable Forum members, Jamesbondaka, who took a great deal of time on the phone with me, I have done lots of research, testing, and searching the web and can state that this is NOT 999!

It is 19-20k though! I took it into a jewelers this am and he tested it with his electronic tester, said the links are reading 19-20k in no particular order, then he offered to buy it for 1800!

I learned a lot this week researching Asian/Chinese gold "Chuk Kam" chains...very few jewelers outside of Asia are aware of them or have ever seen one. I am truly humbled to have gotten my coil over this in the dark cold surf...out of all the many miles of constantly shifting sand, this particular cut was only open for 24hrs, and is now back under 3' of overburden, the signal was very strong and solid, pulltabish or big foilish......I can imagine the person who lost this was very distraught! As an aside, while searching for something of similar weight and value, I saw chains upwards of 300gr on the internet for sale, which means we all have a mission to find one! Good Luck to you all my brothers,:beers: lets get out, get in it, and get on the GOLD!

Hey a guy has to make a living! If he really wanted it he would have made a better offer or a counter. I've had far more low ball offers from car dealers doing trade in bids!
Way to go Mud!
