Last night after dinner,I was looking over the Craig's List lost and found section when i saw a lost ring notice.I replied to the add offering to help along with my PH#....I was called back rather quickly by a woman named Jennifer who asked if i could come out tonight....only minutes from the beach i said OK and meet up with her and her boyfriend at 10PM....We walked out to the cabana lounge chairs and i did a search around the general area...finding nothing but a few caps and tabs we moved the chairs out and after a couple caps the ring was in my hand.I forgot my camera, but a pic was taken by the now very happy couple and was on my email when i got home along with a request for my address to send a thank-you gift..love this hobby!!!....knowing it was lost last night i had the sens set low,all metal, using the 5x10 18.75 coil on the 705.The TID# was a 28..HH bob.oz

How good of you Bob. That is wonderful ambassadorship for the hobby.
BRAVO!

Great story with a happy ending! Hats off to you.... specially @ 10pm.....

Great job Bob. The feeling you get from returning something as important as the ring was to that couple is priceless. Congrats on the recovery. And thanks for sharing with us. HH Randy

Amazing story. Congratulations!

Thanks all...This type of help that we as MDers can demonstrate and in most situations, result in a positive out come, is just what this hobby needs from all of us....Her updated CL posting is a testimonial to MDers

I feel that we profit quite well from our hobby and being asked to help someone find a lost ring is a "no brain-er!!!"
I have the same thoughts on found class rings....their is no other type of ring that gives so much info to help track down that person,I found 3 this summer water hunting..90,78,and a 46...all were mailed home last week,2 were returned to their owners, the 3rd (46)was 2 months too late to be returned to the lady,so it went to her son...
Their are alot of Mders that feel that people that loose their rings while enjoying outdoor activities, deserve just that for not removing them beforehand....and after that its "Finders keepers"....When I find a ring, chain,or other item of value,I have a bit of empathy for that person that lost it...Its value to them is so much more than monetary in most cases, and the heartache can tear them up inside...Its a nice feeling to know you did the right thing and the rewards are easier to live with....The owner of the ring was true to her word and a FedEx package was on my front porch when i got home for lunch yesterday,It contained a very thoughtful gift of a live Bonsai plant, something that will remind me of this event alot longer than a cash reward...as long as i can keep it alive!!HH GL bob.oz

Headlights and all ... LOL, looks like it was a nice ring too. Way to go Bob! See ... we're all not those nerds that the movies make fun of combing up and down the beach for 18 cents! Congratulations on promoting yourself as well as the hobby in a positive light!
