705 Target ID

bobehman

New member
I recently got a 705 and have about 75 coins mostly pennies, 1 silver quarter from my first three times out. I have read the forum and found the target ID chart for 30,50 and 70 however my readings seem very different from those, pulltabs read an erratic 12. Coins are different but I am in Canada and Canadian coins seem very different. Anyone have more details on target ID and/or Canadian coins.

Well you could make one maybe? It would be easy with your modern coins. Just get one of each kind from a bank. As to old coins? I would not know how to tell you to do that, Beale.

Modern Canadian coins have a steel core. This creates a problem for detectors in general in regards to ID.

Depending on several detector factors:

1. Angle.
2. Depth
3. Soil conditions.
4. Coil type.
5. Coil sweep/position.
6. And in the case of the X-Terras, coil frequency.

The coins can be ID'd as:

1. Iron
2. Silver or Copper.
3. A composite signal between iron & (copper, silver).
4. Any of the above depending on the detector factors listed above.
