705 Question

I am getting a new 705 and can't wait to get it out in the relic fields. Could someone tell me if the 10.5 inch DD 7.5khz is good for relic hunting.

Thanks for your help!

Dale

Dale your going to enjoy the xterra 705. I would suggest you go to utube and type in digging history, there are a series of videos with the xterra 70 and 705 being used to hunt relics and also check out the faq at the top of this forum. Tons of good practical information there also.

Its a great coil for relic hunting. But, mostly in open fields where there isn't a ton of trash clustered together. It gets great depth and you don't have to overlap your swing as much as with the other coils. However, once you get into a concentration of iron or other period trash, you'll probably want to switch to one of the smaller coils for better separation. I use mine to try and locate Civil War sites and then I switch to the stock or one of the 6" coils to try and get better separation when I get into the inevitable iron/trash field.
